Peter W. Eklund is a Professor of AI and Machine Learning and an Elected Fellow of the Australian Computer Society. For many years Peter was supported by defence intelligence sources both in Australia and the US.This followed from his work on ‘embedding knowledge in web documents’, pioneering semantic web research. Since then Peter has developed an international profile in applied artificial intelligence. Following a large grant from CSIRO’s ICT centre in 2010, Peter diversified into pervasive computing and intelligent transport systems, including applications of cyber-physical systems in supply chain logistics. Based on that work, Peter won the inaugural Australian Government Smart Infrastructure Research Award in 2010.Peter’s present work is on the scalability of blockchain technology and trusted sovereign networks. Peter has been co-founder of three tech start-ups and is currently on the advisory board of GenuTex Ltd, a UK company that offers a unique hybrid blockchain solution to authenticate the supply-chain of pharmaceuticals to mitigate counterfeit pharmaceuticals.
