Nigel Hedges Head of Information Security at CPA Australia

Biography

Nigel Hedges is the Head of Information Security at CPA Australia, with over 22 years of industry cyber security experience across several roles. Nigel has an MBA with two dean’s commendations, and a Masters of Cybersecurity with high distinction average, both from La Trobe University. He also holds several industry certifications including CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CRISC, is a PCI Internal Security Assessor, and a certified ISO27001 Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor.

Nigel started his career working for an Australian anti-malware company before moving into security consulting, engineering and analytical roles at various companies.  Since then, he has played the lead role on several security strategies, security budgets and executed security programs. Nigel has experience working closely with Legal, Privacy, Internal Risk & Compliance and Policy & Advocacy functions.

Nigel regularly reports at the board level on cyber security matters and participates in industry events and conferences on a regular basis. He is also an Executive Advisory Board member on the Australian Information Security Association (AISA), attends the Centre of Excellence group on Digital Transformation for CPA Australia members, and is a member of the Industry Cybersecurity Steering Group for the Australian Tax Office.
